The kashioboy project started around 1998 initially featuring computer driven instrumentation, Casio toy keyboards, and various circuit bent things. Because of my love for basic waveforms and 8/16 bit systems the project eventually shifted to creating music that mostly reflected the sound of C64 SID, Nintendo NES 2A03, Nintendo Gameboy, and Atari YM chips. Over the years I've moved to working with those real chips. The main goal has been to have as many different 8/16 bit chips singing in unision in a live set up. The HardSID 4U has made it simple to intelligently incorporate real SID into my set up. I have been rewriting a lot of my material to incorporate some of or feature my HardSID 4U.
About 2A03-8580 Love Song:
This is a rewrite of an older song of mine. It features 2 8580's from my HS4U, the Noise and Triangle channels from
a MIDI controlled 2A03 (NES), and Vocals by myself. I used no effects on the SIDs or the 2A03. I compiled familiar
sounds from the SIDs. Low dirty PW modulated bass, PW modulated Arps, and a simple whiny PW modulated lead.
I love PW modulation on the SID! The vocals flow greatly with all that glorious SID chip goodness.
